There are a variety of Western riding disciplines available for competition in Australia.

* Cowboy Dressage World Australia rules allow "Side Saddle must be shown in western attire and western type bridles or hackamores. At this time, until further notice English side saddles are allowed"

* Western Dressage Australia (WDA - Aus) Western Dressage Australia is currently considering allowing the use of western side saddles in competition.
This aligns with the Western Dressage Association of America, which already permits western side saddles and boasts many successful riders competing aside. The Australian Side Saddle Community (ASSC) is hopeful for a positive outcome and welcomes the potential opportunity for greater inclusivity within the sport.

Not all events, societies or associations permit the use of side saddles.

Therefore, it is essential to exercise due diligence by reviewing the rules and regulations of the specific event, competition, and/or the hosting organization.
